Crystal Woodman Miller is the author of “Marked for Life: Choosing Hope and Discovering Purpose After Earth-Shattering Tragedy” (NavPress).   She is a survivor of the library during the deadly shootings at Columbine High School.  For nearly twenty years she has spoken around the world, sharing her story in an effort to prevent school violence, and to support those who have unfortunately already been impacted by it.  Crystal seeks to foster an environment of caring, tolerant and understanding schools and communities wherever she goes. Crystal’s speaking has given her access to virtually every kind of school around the world; urban, suburban, rural, low income, wealthy, private, and public, as well as schools for at-risk youth, teaching students ranging from elementary to college.  She has addressed faculty, administrators, teachers, and entire communities.  Crystal has spoken before conferences for law enforcement searching for ways to improve school safety, and has spoken to inmates in prisons and even interviewed a former school shooter.  Called on by every major news network in the aftermath of violence, Crystal has interviewed multiple times with The Today Show, CNN, Fox News, Nightly News, GMA, BBC and more.  She has been featured in print by the NY Times, Forbes, TIME, BusinessWeek, Glamour and Marie Claire.

“I never would have imagined that the worst thing that ever happened to me could truly be turned into something positive. For the longest time, I felt my life was marked by tragedy, suffering, pain, and fear… over time, however, I realized I was marked by hope and purpose. It is a choice to fully live life despite its challenges and strive to love and serve others.” - Crystal
